If you use Google Analytics on your website, you can add Google Analytics tracking to your MailChimp campaigns to track clicks from your campaigns all the way to purchases on your website. MailChimp helps make this process quick and easy.
- First, make sure you have Google Analytics account set up on your website. If you want to track purchases, you'll also want to be sure Google Analytics is set up to track conversions.
- After you've got conversion tracking set up in your Google Analytics account, you can add Google Analytics tracking to your MailChimp campaigns:
- To have MailChimp automatically add Google Analytics information to your links, check the box on the Setup step of the Campaign Builder and fill in a campaign title.
- Or you can manually add Google Analytics tracking parameters to links in your campaign that you want to track. Here's more information about how to do that.
- To have MailChimp automatically add Google Analytics information to your links, check the box on the Setup step of the Campaign Builder and fill in a campaign title.
Viewing Analytics Stats in Google
- Log in to Google Analytics.
- On the Standard Reporting page for your site, click Traffic Sources.
- Under Sources, select All Traffic.
- Using the Primary Dimension options, you can sort by medium (the name of your list appears here) or source (MailChimp campaigns with automatic Google Analytics tracking have "email" as the source).
- You'll see all your different MailChimp campaigns. From here, you can click the Goals tab to see how many people came to your website from your email campaign, and completed any goals you've setup.
Viewing Analytics Data in MailChimp
In addition to adding Google Analytics tracking to links in your campaigns, you can link your Google Analytics account with MailChimp to see tracking information in your MailChimp campaign reports. Here's how to integrate with your Analytics account:
- In your MailChimp account, go to Account > Integrations.

- Select the Google option to begin the connection process.

- Click authorize connection to begin authorizing MailChimp to access your Google data.
- Once connected, you'll see a success message to indicate which Google services we can access.

Once connected, for any campaigns with MailChimp's Google Analytics tracking enabled (the automatic option), you'll be able to see Analytics information on the Advanced Reports page in the campaign report.
You'll also see a button on the Reports page for Site Analytics - this will give an overview of information about your site in relation to campaigns and list growth.

Bonus: If you've integrated with Twitter, in addition to campaigns, we'll also show tweets on the timeline for site traffic in the Site Analytics!
Notes
It can take up to 48 hours for your Google Analytics data and your MailChimp data to sync up 100%. Give the stats a little time to settle and you'll see better results.
Google Analytics links will not work if there's a space added to the end of the URL in the campaign. If you're having a problem getting results, check and make sure that a space hasn't accidentally been placed at the end of the URL.
