Does MailChimp host images?

When you upload an image to our Basic, Predesigned, or Drag & Drop templates, we'll host the image on our server. Every image that you upload will be stored in the image section in your MailChimp account.

If you use the import zip file option to create your campaign, we'll also host any image files you include in the zip folder. For more information on uploading images and creating a campaign from a zip file, take a look at this article.

Uploaded images that meet our image requirements can be accessed from the Campaign Builder or while editing a customized template. This article gives instructions on how to access the image gallery to view and select images.

There are a few instances where images used in a campaign will not be stored in the image gallery:

  • When you import from a URL to a Basic or Predesigned template, the image is not uploaded to your gallery. If you want to re-use the image, you will need to re-import it from the url.
  • When you create a campaign using the import by URL or by coding your own HTML requires you to code hyperlink references to your images as absolute paths on the import domain. These images would then have to be hosted on your own server.
