Images can be uploaded while working in the Design step of our Campaign Builder. Every image you upload will be stored in the image section of the File Manager in your MailChimp account and can be edited with Aviary. Image requirements can vary based on the template you're using, so take a look at this article for specific information for the template you've selected. Below we'll walk you through the different ways to add an image in your MailChimp campaign.
Add image to an image block
Drag & Drop Editor
- Navigate to the Campaigns page.
- Click on the name of the draft campaign you want to edit or click on the Create Campaign button on the left side of the page to start a new campaign.
- Navigate to the Design step of the Campaign Builder and select the Drag & Drop Editor.
- Choose one of the template layouts to get started building your campaign.
- Select an existing image block or drag and drop an Image content block into your layout.
- Drag and drop the image from your computer into the image block. You can also click the Browse button to pull up the File Manager and search for an image on your computer or use the import from a URL link to import your image from a web address.

- Hover over the image and click the pencil icon to open the image editor on the right side of the screen.
- Click the Edit link to edit the image with Aviary, click Link to add a link to the image, and click Alt to set the alt text for the image.

- Click the Save & Close button when you're done!
Basic and Predesigned templates
Some of our templates feature blocks specifically for images. We'll show placeholder images in those blocks when you first choose your template. You can either edit the image to add your own or remove the image if you prefer not to have an image in that area.
- Navigate to the Campaigns page.
- Click on the name of the draft campaign you want to edit or click on the Create Campaign button on the left side of the page to start a new campaign.
- Navigate to the Design step of the Campaign Builder.
- Click edit for the image content region.
- Drag and drop the image from your computer into the File Manager window. You can also click the Browse button to search for an image on your computer or click the import from a URL link to import your image from a web address.
If you're adding a header image you can use our Header Designer to create a logo or header image for your template or campaign.
- Click the Upload button to send your image to our servers.

- Once the selected image finishes uploading, the Image Properties box will appear. If you've uploaded more than one image you'll be taken to the gallery view instead. Hover over the image you want to use and click Select.
' - Once the image is selected you can edit the image with Aviary, set your image properties, and add a URL to make the image a link.

- Click the Save & Insert Image button when you're done!
Add image to a text block
Images can also be added to text blocks in the Drag & Drop Editor, Basic, or Predesigned templates.
Drag & Drop Editor
- Navigate to the Campaigns page.

- Navigate to the Design step of the Campaign Builder and select the Drag & Drop Editor.

- Click the image icon in the toolbar to bring up the File Manager.

Notes
- When you use the import from a URL option when adding an image to one of our Basic or Predesigned templates, this image is not uploaded to your gallery. If you want to re-use the image, you will need to re-import it from the url.
- In our Predesigned templates, some of the content blocks or images are part of the template design and cannot be changed.
- The delete and hide controls don't offer the same functionality in our Template Editor. In fact, you can't actually remove anything while working in the Template Editor. If you need to make changes like that, we suggest you work in the Campaign Builder instead.
