We take security very seriously and want to help you keep your account as safe and secure as possible. There are bad guys out there who'd love to hack into your MailChimp account and steal your lists or send spam to your lists. So if we detect someone doing anything suspicious in your account, we'll lock it down and verify that it's actually you. Below we'll walk you through the two different verification methods we use.
SMS text message verification
You can opt to use our SMS (text message) verification method in order to access your account. If we see patterns that seem unusual for your account, we'll verify your identity before login by sending you an SMS (a text message) with a verification code. When you receive the message on your mobile phone simply enter the verification code into your web browser in order to finish logging in to your account.
To use the security question authentication, you'll set up three questions and answers. These security questions are used when you log in from an unknown IP address, to verify your identity within the app, or when you need to change any billing information. The security questions, in addition to the account password, help ensure that your MailChimp account is protected and your identity is safe.

You can also add an additional layer of security to your account by using our AlterEgo application.
