When you upload a list into MailChimp's list management system, we remove duplicate entries and syntax errors. A syntax error is a malformed email address. Something like, "john@aol" instead of "@aol.com."
When you upload your list, the system reports those syntax errors - either in your account after upload or on the confirmation email we send to you when your list import is complete. We do this so you can try to fix them manually. For instance, something like "john@aolcom" is an easy fix. It's probably just missing the (.) dot. Other problems with an email addresses might not be so obvious. You'll need to be extra careful that you don't import someone you don't know. To get the report, click on the link that says "3 syntax errors" (or whatever number you have). See our example below.
If you navigate away from the initial import results, you can go to the bottom of your List Dashboard to view your List Import History. We'll keep your upload details around for about 24 hours.
