Get Reviewed Fast

Here are the things you can do to speed up the review process and get a movin' in your account.

  1. Make sure your account is compliant with our Terms of Use . You agreed to it when you signed up, so it’s a good idea to read the whole thing.
  2. Set up a list and a campaign that includes real content that you actually plan on sending to your list. We can’t begin the review process until a campaign and list are in place.
  3. Check to see that you have a good Permission Reminder in place for all lists in your account. You'll find the Permission Reminder under Lists > settings > required email footer content. Need some help? Here are some pointers on What Makes a Good Permission Reminder.
  4. Include a valid postal address in any campaigns you plan on sending through us. A postal address is required by the Federal Can-Spam Act, so we have to make sure you include it.

Once all of those things are in place, if you still haven’t heard from us, give us a shout (or gentle nudge) at compliance@mailchimp.com and be sure to mention your username in the email.

Why Review Accounts?

When you sign up for an account at MailChimp, humans and computers do monitor your activities for any signs of abuse. This prevents problems on our system that might hurt overall deliverability for all our customers. Sometimes, when we see things that need some explaining or investigating, the review team might take a little time to check things out. You will get a notice from us if you're approved or if we need more information from you.

For instance, there may be something about your account that we don't feel comfortable with. Maybe your name or email address is too anonymous. Maybe we can't find an email opt-in form on your website. Maybe you're a tiny little small business that started a month ago, but you have an email list of 5 million. Things like that raise flags with our automated and human reviewers. If you haven't heard from us, we're composing an email with a few questions for you, but we haven't sent it yet.

So When Will My Account Be Approved?!? I'm In A Hurry!

As you've most likely seen, when you go to purchase email credits, you'll get taken to a "road block" in the system and our compliance team is alerted. Rest assured, it's an urgent matter for us, too (after all, we want to keep your business). Someone will be contacting you shortly about your approval status, and whether or not we have any questions. Technically, our office hours are Mon-Fri, 9am-5pm EST, so do keep that time frame in mind when looking for a quick review.
