Run a Traceroute

If you're troubleshooting connection issues, you can run a traceroute to determine the path your connection takes to our servers and the speed at which those connections are completed. To properly diagnose your connection to MailChimp, our Support Team needs the results of the traceroute that you run.

For Mac

  1. Open the Applications folder.
  2. Click Utilities.
  3. Double-click on Terminal.
  4. Once Terminal is open you will see a command line.
  5. Type in this command:
    traceroute us#.admin.mailchimp.com

Replace us# with your account-specific datacenter. If you can log in to your MailChimp account, check the URL in your browser's address bar to find your datacenter ID. For example, https://us2.admin.mailchimp.com/ indicates that you're on our us2 datacenter.
  6. Once the traceroute has finished running either copy/paste the results or take a screenshot of the results.

For PC

  1. Click your Start Menu.
  2. Choose Run.
  3. Type in cmd.
  4. After C:/.... type in:
    tracert us#.admin.mailchimp.com

Replace us# with your account-specific datacenter. If you can log in to your MailChimp account, check the URL in your browser's address bar to find your datacenter ID. For example, https://us2.admin.mailchimp.com/ indicates that you're on our us2 datacenter.
  5. Once the traceroute has finished running either copy/paste the results or take a screenshot of the results.
