Connect or Disconnect MailChimp for PrestaShop

The MailChimp module for PrestaShop adds your PrestaShop store customers and their order details to your MailChimp list. Use PrestaShop data to track sales, create targeted e-commerce campaigns, generate custom product recommendations, and more.

In this article, you’ll learn how to connect and disconnect MailChimp for PrestaShop.

Before You Start

  • The MailChimp module for PrestaShop works with all versions of PrestaShop 1.6.

  • This module is compatible with all of our latest e-commerce features, including abandoned cart emails, order notifications, and product recommendations.

How it Works

When you connect your PrestaShop store to MailChimp, we’ll update your MailChimp list, or create a new list, with each customer’s email address, first name, last name, and order information.

Customers who opt in to your marketing emails at checkout are imported as subscribed contacts, while customers who choose not to receive marketing emails will appear as non-subscribed contacts. You’ll collect more contacts as new people purchase from you, and future orders will be synced automatically.

Connect Your Store

To connect your PrestaShop store to a list in MailChimp, follow these steps.

  1. Navigate to the MailChimp listing in the PrestaShop Addons Marketplace.

  2. Click Download. Registration is required.

  3. Save the ZIP file to your computer.

  4. Log in to your PrestaShop back office.

  5. In the left navigation menu, click Modules and Services.

  6. Click Add a new module.

  7. Click Choose a file, and select the ZIP file for the module.

  8. Click Upload this module.

    After you upload the module, it will appear in the Modules List.

  9. In the Modules List, find the MailChimp module and click Install.

  10. On the Configure page, review the instructions and click Connect Your Store.

  11. Enter your MailChimp credentials and click Log In.

    You’ll be redirected back to the Configure page.

  12. Choose an existing list in your account, or create a new list.

  13. Click Save.

All set! We’ll start syncing your PrestaShop customers to MailChimp. The time it takes to sync depends on the size of your list and the number of orders in your store.

Edit List Settings

When you create a new list in the MailChimp module, we’ll populate your list settings in MailChimp with contact information from your PrestaShop store. If your store contact information doesn’t include a physical address, you won’t be able to create a new list in the module.

To edit the contact information for your PrestaShop store, follow these steps.

  1. Log in to your PrestaShop back office.

  2. In the left navigation menu, hover over Preferences and click Store Contacts.

  3. Scroll to Contact Details, and make your changes as needed.

  4. Click Save.

We’ll also generate a permission reminder for customers who opt in to receive your email marketing. To change the contact information or permission reminder for a list after it’s created, you’ll need to edit its required footer content in MailChimp.

Customize Your Footer Content

View Site Details

After you install MailChimp for PrestaShop, you can visit the Connected Sites page in your account to view details for your PrestaShop store. Here, you can see the status of the integration or add and manage e-commerce features.

To view your site details, follow these steps.

  1. Log in to your MailChimp account.
  2. Click your profile name, and choose Connected Sites.
    Cursor clicks profile name and chooses connected sites.

From here, you can view your synced list, design a pop-up form, or add and monitor e-commerce automations that use data from your connected Prestashop store.

For each notification you enable in MailChimp, you’ll need to disable its counterpart in PrestaShop.

Uninstall and Re-Install

If you’re having trouble with your store connection, you may want to uninstall and re-install the MailChimp module for PrestaShop.

To uninstall and re-install the MailChimp for PrestaShop module, follow these steps.

  1. Log in to your PrestaShop administration screen.

  2. In the left-hand navigation menu, click Modules and Services.

  3. In the Modules List section, search for MailChimp Integration.

  4. Find the official MailChimp Integration module, click the drop-down menu, and choose Uninstall.

  5. Reinstall the module.
