Insert GIFs from Giphy into a Campaign

This feature requires Author user level or higher.

MailChimp has a direct integration with Giphy, giving you access to their vast library of animated GIFs to upload into your campaigns. Even better, it's completely free.

Below, we walk you through how to search for Giphy GIFs and insert GIFs into your campaign.

Import a Giphy GIF to an Image Block

  1. Navigate to the Design step of the Campaign Builder.
  2. Click the Browse button in an Image block, or double-click an image to edit it.
  3. Click the Import from URL drop-down menu and choose Import from Giphy.
  4. Enter a search term and select the Search icon.
  5. Select the Import button under the GIF you would like to insert into your campaign.

  6. When the import is complete, the GIF is automatically inserted in the image block you selected, and you are returned to the layout editor.

In the Image pane, you'll see four options: Replace to select a new file; Edit to edit the GIF in Photo Editor (not recommended for GIFs); Link to add a click-through link; and Alt to add alt text for screen readers.

Import a Giphy GIF to a Text Block

  1. Navigate to the Design step of the Campaign Builder.
  2. Select a text block to bring up the editing pane.
  3. Put your cursor where you want your image to go, and click the File Manager icon.
  4. Click the Import from URL drop-down menu and choose Import from Giphy.
  5. Enter a search term and select the search icon.
  6. Select the Import button under the GIF you would like to insert into your campaign.

  7. When the import is complete, set the image properties in the Edit Image screen.
  8. Click Save & Insert Image.

If you need to set optional image properties after inserting the GIF, like whether to add alt text or a click-through URL, double-click the GIF in the text block to edit those settings.
