View Your List Import Results

This feature requires Manager user level or higher.

When you import to your MailChimp list, we generate a report that shows how many subscribers were added, updated, skipped as duplicates, and whether there were any addresses with syntax errors. If you used the Auto-update feature, your results may look a little different.

In this article, you'll learn how to access and read the list import results report.

View Import History

The Import History page for your list shows you how many errors were found. To view the affected addresses, access it within 24 hours of the import.

To view your import history, follow these steps.

  1. Navigate to the Lists page.
  2. Click the drop-down menu next to the list you want to work with, and choose Manage Subscribers.

  3. On the Manage Subscribers page, click Import History.

Standard Import

This is an example and explanation of a standard list import result, which didn't use the Auto-update feature.

  • 6 subscribers were added to your list.
This is the number of new subscribers who were added, reflected in your total subscriber count. Click View to see these subscribers in your list.

  • 6 emails were already in your list and couldn't be imported.
This is the number of addresses that have already been added to or unsubscribed from your list.
  • 2 emails have syntax errors.
This is the number of addresses that had spaces, misspellings, or other problems. Review these addresses, fix the errors, and import them as individual addresses.
  • 2 emails were either invalid or role-based and could not be imported.
This is the number of role-based and invalid addresses that we removed from your import, including common domain misspellings (gamil.com instead of gmail.com).

Auto-Update Import

In this example, the Auto-update feature was turned on. You can tell because the first line says that subscribers were "updated or added" instead of just "added."

  • 9 subscribers were updated or added to your list.
This is the number of subscribers who were added or updated. Some addresses may have been existing subscribers whose records were updated, and are already accounted for in the total subscriber count. Click the View button to see the total number of new subscribers added in your import.
  • 1 email was already in your list and couldn’t be imported.
This number includes addresses that were already unsubscribed from the list, and weren't imported or updated.
